My abstract was accepted and I got to present my part of the research at the Undergraduate Research Conference! My presentation focused on my portion of the research which aims to correlate fluctuation of Mg, Sr, and Ba with seasonal changes. We also wanted to look at the role El Niño storms play in affecting the stalagmite record.
This was a great event, I had my family there, and all of the members of my lab as well. I was also lucky to also have friends near me, Danielle and Tracy, whom I had met at UC Davis and Solano Community College, respectively. I also was excited to see other Geology students presenting their research as well, such as: Maria Huitron-Ramirez, Sophia Stuart, James Rees, Danielle Kinkel, and Huy Le. Ellie Brumage of the same research group also presented her part on trace elements being used to timeline large fire events.
